OTIS, the world’s leading manufacturer of vertical transportation systems, ensures the movement of millions of people daily across India’s retail, corporate, and public infrastructure. To maintain this massive, dispersed fleet of elevators and escalators, OTIS required a partner capable of delivering standardized, high-quality service at a national scale. Hofincons serves as this strategic partner, managing a National Managed Services Agreement that spans Installation, Commissioning, and comprehensive Annual Maintenance.

The Challenge: Managing Scale and Safety Across Distributed Assets

The scope of OTIS’s operations presents a unique logistical and technical challenge compared to a single industrial plant.

  • Geographical Spread: The mandate covers a Pan-India footprint, requiring consistent service delivery across diverse environments, from bustling retail hubs and corporate campuses (like Airtel and SAP) to critical public utilities and airports.

  • Safety Risks: Vertical transportation maintenance involves high-risk activities. Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly for “Working at Heights,” is non-negotiable across hundreds of concurrent sites.

  • Asset Lifecycle: The requirement demanded a “BOT” (Build-Operate-Transfer) model for large infrastructure projects, necessitating a partner who could handle everything from initial installation to long-term asset health management.

The Hofincons Solution: Tech-Enabled Distributed Workforce

Hofincons implemented a digitally integrated workforce model to manage this vast network. We moved beyond traditional staffing to create a Center of Excellence (COE) approach that combines skilled labor with advanced asset monitoring technology.

  • 200+ Technical Squads: We deployed over 200 Certified Technical “Gangs” and engineers across India. These teams are specifically trained and certified by OTIS and Bluspring, ensuring OEM-level competence at every site.

  • Digital Asset Management: We integrated Maximo-based digital management and IoT control rooms to track asset performance in real-time. This includes “One MOT” protocols and trouble-ticket management, ensuring data-driven maintenance decisions.

  • Safety & Compliance: We established a rigorous “Working at Heights” Certification System and Asset Health Index (AHI) monitoring to ensure that every repair, shutdown, or preventive maintenance task meets global safety standards.

The Outcome: Seamless Vertical Mobility

This long-term partnership has standardized the quality of elevator maintenance across OTIS’s Indian portfolio.

  • Operational Uptime: By utilizing digital tools like the Asset Health Index and IoT monitoring, we have shifted from reactive repairs to predictive maintenance, significantly improving equipment availability.

  • Project Execution: Our specialized teams have successfully delivered high-profile installation projects for major corporate campuses (Airtel, SAP), proving our capability in complex project management.

  • Safety Leadership: The implementation of specialized certification systems has ensured a robust safety culture, protecting both our workforce and the millions of passengers who rely on these systems daily.
